Foxhole Technology is seeking a senior VMWare ESXI Administrator to support a federal government client. The position shall provide subject matter expertise in VMware architecture, Windows Domain Administration, and SharePoint Server Administration to support the design, implementation, and sustainment of a secure, scalable, and compliant virtualized infrastructure and enterprise Microsoft Windows environment. The support includes both production and development environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and adherence to strict US Government cybersecurity requirements.

Job Description

  • Architect, coordinate, and implement VMware/Broadcom virtualization solutions included in the VMware Cloud Foundations (VCF) suite to include: ESXi, vCenter, NSX, vSAN, Aria Operations, and any future virtualization technologies included in the software suite.
  • Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, system monitoring, and optimization.
  • Design and support disaster recovery (DR) and high availability (HA) configurations.
  • Evaluate and support VMware upgrades, patches, and security hardening.
  • Administer and maintain Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS), including Group Policies, OU structures, domain trusts, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Provide recommendations on directory service design and best practices for security, replication, and object management.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to Windows Server infrastructure, including authentication, access control, and domain replication.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD/DISA STIGs, NIST 800-53, and agency-specific security policies by conducting regular system audits and assisting in the remediation of identified vulnerabilities and findings, working closely with cybersecurity teams to maintain a secure and compliant infrastructure.
  • Work with cybersecurity, networking, application, and desktop teams to implement Zero Trust principles and audit controls.
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell or other automation scripts to streamline operations, reporting, and configuration management.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation—including network diagrams, system design documents, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and implementation plans—in accordance with established change management procedures to ensure accuracy, traceability, and alignment with configuration control and enterprise IT governance standards.
  • Provide comprehensive reports outlining the work completed, current system health, identified risks and issues, and upcoming tasks and requirements. Ensure these reports are accompanied by regular briefings to senior leadership, highlighting operational impacts, trends, and recommendations to support informed decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Support and execute cloud migration strategies, including assessing current workloads, identifying suitable cloud solutions, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring secure, compliant, and efficient migration of services and applications to hybrid or public cloud environments, while aligning with DoD cloud computing security requirements and enterprise architecture standards.
  • Administer and maintain Microsoft SharePoint Server environments, including site collections, web applications, service applications, and integration with enterprise systems.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in designing, deploying, and implementing VMware infrastructure components
  • In-depth knowledge of Windows domain deployment, management, and configuration as it pertains to managing VMware infrastructure and desktop environment components.
  • BS Degree in IT or related discipline
  • VMWare Certified Professional
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance

Desired Experience/Certifications

Preferred certifications: Microsoft Server certification, Security+ desired.
